“Not quite an interior design book but The Architecture of Trees (by Cesare Leonardi & Franca Stagi) is so captivating. For me, approaching Interior Design comes from a place where the Architecture and the natural environment of a home meet, so this book captures so much of that for me. The book features more than 550 quill pen drawings of trees at a scale of 1:100 and tables seasonal color variations and shadow projections season by season. It is just so beautiful to look through.”

The Case Study Houses mark a special era of post- war American Architecture that was full of hope, optimism and innovation. The bold, streamlined designs that were so modern for their time are always a source of inspiration when things in the industry start to feel repetitive, procedural or too reserved. Having my own copy of this book now takes me straight back to my sunset tour of Stahl House (Case Study #22), with its breathtaking cantilevered pool perched up on the hillside and all the lights of the city twinkling below.”
