December is here and with that comes our much-anticipated IBP Holiday Gift Guide! It is a favorite time of the year for us all at the office and we love taking the time to share some of our favorite products and gifts for the season. If you need some ideas for those people in your life that appreciate good design and the impact it can have on your day, or you need a pick me up of your own, then this list of IBP approved gifts is for you!
We hope you enjoy perusing it as much as we enjoyed creating it.
Happy shopping everyone.
‘First on my list this year are these amazing socks from Japanese company Tabio. I Absolutely adore them. The Premium Finest Merino Wool ones are the kind I wear every day right now and they are the best. I also adored wearing the Premium Silk and the Soft Lamé ones during summer and fall. These socks are the ethos of everyday functional luxury.’
Who knew socks could be game changers! Sometimes it’s the simple comforts in life that can make your day and these ultra high-end wool socks, using the world’s highest quality superfine wool achieve a level of softness that make you feel you are walking on air. Their extremely soft feel, vibrant and versatile style, makes these socks perfect for any dressy or casual style.
‘My favorite brand of perfumes and candles, I personally use this specific fragrance since jasmine is my favorite scent.’
This perfume oil from Maison Louis Marie is dreamy. The lightly rolling ball deposits the perfect amount of oil on the skin to release the fragrance without being too overpowering. To make it into a set, add the matching candle and you will be the best gift giver ever!
‘I don’t use a wrap often, but they sure are handy when I do need one. They are especially useful for the traveler, as an extra layer of warmth or a blanket on the go.’
We LOVE Alashan Cashmere around here and their throw blankets are a staple on our home styling inventory shelves. The Silk Cashmere Light Weight Travel Wrap is a beautiful addition to any wardrobe. The silk blend will feel soft on your skin and can easily be worn as an open weave wrap or scarf. We love the versatility.
ANNA DE SANTIS
‘I love scents that remind me of faraway places I traveled to. This candle smells of smoky volcanic ashes and Icelandic herbs and sets the right mood for long winter nights.’
The Fischersund no. 23 Scented Candle from Woodland Mod is made using recycled soy wax, cotton wick and high-grade fragrance oils. It is hand-poured, and the incredible fragrance is smoky and addictive with notes of anis seed, black pepper, tobacco seeds and Icelandic Sitka spruce. It is a very unique fragrance, and the modern design of the glass jar is the perfect addition to your coffee table or nightstand.
‘I recently received a pair of these as a gift and I ADORE them! I love the pure minimalism they exude as well as the extended post that adds an extra visual feature that catches the eye. Love, love, love’
Baleen is a local Seattle jewelry maker that our team at IBP really loves. You will often find their website open on a desktop here and there over lunch break and these hoops, could they get any better? We are always here for a modern twist on a classic form and these hoops tick all the boxes.
‘For a couple years now I’ve slowly but surely been building up my collection of Smithey cookware. Smithey is the finest cast iron cookware designed and crafted in the USA. Each piece is inspected by a craftsman and guaranteed for life. The cooking surface is smooth, the design is exquisite and the food…. well truly that depends on the cook, right?’
The No. 11 Deep Skillet combines many of Smithey’s fan favorite design elements into a single, versatile pan for everyday use. The polished, curved interior walls are perfect for browning and stirring ground meat and vegetables. The lid allows you to up your game and steam, simmer, or braise to your heart’s content. The interior has a polished finish, which, when seasoned, is naturally non-stick and easy to clean. It’s a no-brainer.
‘A small lighting fixture is always my go-to gift as it is a great example of the marriage of form and function. Minimal and hard in material, organic and soft in shape, the cast metal manages to have a lightness to it. This low-level light creates privacy and intimacy and is great gift for the holiday season.’
Made of cast recycled aluminum, the Oyster Table Lamp has a decorative, organic shape due to its soft, lively curves. Reminiscent of oyster shells gathered at the beach, the texture and finish of the lamp has a distinctive, rough expression owing to the casting process, and the interplay between its organic shape and raw surface creates a compelling contrast. Diffusing a soft, cozy light, the Oyster Table Lamp is a functional yet sculptural piece that will elevate your home.
‘For the avid coffee or tea drinker – you need your own pretty mug that no one else is allowed to touch. This stoneware set is beautiful, and each piece has its own unique pattern.’
Playing with bold proportions, the Inlay Cup with Saucer is made from stoneware that features a distinctive, two-tone mix of clays that create a large-scale, marble-like pattern, each of which is unique to the individual piece. The purposeful, robust forms of the cup and saucer are pleasantly contrasted by a clear, high-gloss glazing. We love that you can use the oversized saucer along with the cup, or as a dish for your morning bread roll or afternoon pastry bringing that extra layer of function that makes us happy.
‘Cold hands are not an option with these truly gorgeous shearling mittens. Whether cheering on my boys at the soccer field or walking a cold construction site on a site visit, I need warm hands, and these mittens keep me toasty whilst adding some winter style to my outfit – love them’
These cozy shearling mittens by Apparis are lined inside with a tech jersey fabric that keeps your hands feeling nice and warm but not too hot. The adjustable buckles allow for a snug fit or air flow if you prefer. They come in black and taupe and even have a matching head band to finish the look.
‘One of a lesser known in the USA, middle market Spanish designers I love is Adolfo Dominguez. I find his designs unique, with high-quality fabrics and very well made. Check out the accessories category to find some easy, very useful and stylish gifts. My favorite this year is the Tricolor Double Jacquard Shawl, but you really can’t go wrong whatever you choose.’
So there you have it: a veritable treasure trove of goodies to make gift giving a breeze this year, tried and tested and IBP approved. Shop from the options yourself or send to your significant other as a subtle hint for what you might like to see under the tree. A little nudge never hurts anyone.
We hope you enjoy this holiday season and soak up the festive spirit that makes this time of year so special.
