NATURE-INSPIRED COLOR PALETTES
This season’s palette takes cues from the outdoors, blending soft pastels with the deep, rich tones found in our local landscapes. These colors work harmoniously to create serene, welcoming environments that invite calm and relaxation into every corner of your home. Making a few simple changes- like swapping out some pillows, rearranging some artwork or bringing in some more indoor plants can shift and lighten the energy of a space.
MAXIMIZING NATURAL LIGHT
With brighter days upon us, our focus shifts to enhancing the natural light within your home. Strategic placements of mirrors and reflective surfaces capture and multiply the soft, natural light, illuminating your spaces in a way that is both uplifting and invigorating.
For that corner of the house that is perpetually dark, we can look into adding an opening to enhance the natural light. A skylight over a kitchen island or stairwell can increase the value of a property and enhance the daily experience within– allowing glimpses of the outdoors as you go about your routines.
MORE OUTDOOR TIME, LESS INDOOR MUD
There is no escaping the fact that Spring in the PNW means a lot of rain. Between dog walks, hikes or kids coming in after weekend sports, there are lots of opportunities to track in mud from outside. Whether you’re undergoing a renovation or a new build, we love to design mudrooms into layouts for functional PNW residences (where space allows of course).
These are usually located off the primary or secondary entrance and can allow for endless customization options. They can be designed to incorporate the laundry and a utility sink, a dedicated dog wash area or just be a simple drop zone to collect coats, bags, raincoats. Any thoughtfully designed storage will minimize clutter and improve everyday flow. A little extra planning can go a long way!
INVITING OUTDOOR LIVING
The extended daylight invites us to rethink our outdoor spaces, making them perfect for gathering, dining, and relaxing under the open sky. Every home (or condo) should utilize any outdoor space possible and have at least one dedicated outdoor living space (we’ll expand more on this in an upcoming post). In a climate where wet weather is prevalent, high-quality outdoor furniture is a must have. We love durable, functional and minimal furniture that allows us to enjoy the elements without too much upkeep. Portable lights add the right level of ambience and textiles can add that subtle layer of color without too much commitment or investment.
LIGHTER TEXTILES
Now is the perfect time to put the heavier winter throws and bedding blankets into storage and swap out for lighter accessories. Think buttery light linen sheets, waffle knit throws and lighter, brighter tones in bath runners and hand towels. Just remember to throw open the windows while pulling things out of storage to keep that fresh air circulating.
SPRING VIGNETTES
Every spring in Seattle, we look forward to fields of daffodils and tulips blooming in the vicinity. Embrace the fleeting season and make sure you pick up a bunch from your local farm or grocery store while they’re around.
