Supply Chain Happy Endings
Supply Chain Happy Endings
Last month we got right into the Halloween spirit as we recounted some of our supply chain horror stories from the last few years. If you happened to miss it, take a few minutes and give it a read here but with this being the season of gratitude, we wanted to flip this around and look at the bright side with Part Two – Supply Chain Happy Endings.
The stories we tell in that previous blog are only a few of the bumps in the road that occur during the design, procurement and construction process. The truth is, no amount of planning, pre-empting, or pre-construction can ever take into account all the things that can occur along the way (although they reduce them dramatically). Our experience means that we can jump into action and work hard to mitigate them on behalf of our clients, with a big focus on finding the solution. There is always a solution.
IBP – ‘The Chandelier That Never Was’ dining room still waiting on the new chandelier
IBP – ‘Nightmare on Shower Valve Street’ the temporary fix
For instance, when we knew ‘The Chandelier that Never Was’ was not going to be available for an extended period of time and we had waited long enough, we brought this to our clients and advised them that it was best to move on and that we could source something new that was just as good. When those appliances for our kitchen remodel were on extended lead times, we arranged for some temporary ones to be installed. When the mirrors could not be delivered because the transit company used a semi-truck that could not fit in our parking lot, we got in our cars and drove to meet the truck in a larger area so they could be picked up. When the correct shower valve handles seemed like they would never arrive, we ordered them in a different color as a temporary solution.
When you are weighing the pros and cons of hiring a designer to work in your home, these are not necessarily things that you would consider or could ever predict. How would you manage these on your own? Would you have the knowledge and time to figure these things out? Our clients have full-time jobs and/or full-time lives and knowing that we are here to help find these solutions is a huge benefit of hiring a designer.
IBP – ‘The Conjuring (Of The Bathtub)’ New bathtub in place and all finished
IBP – ‘Paranormal Inactivity’ the new dining table on delivery day
These are all happy endings in our book!
